The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef

Last Week of the Trip

I couldn’t believe we were nearing out final destination. It seemed just like yesterday we left Melbourne. I still can’t believe we traveled over 4,000 kilometers (2,400ish miles). It’s crazy to think I’ve spent well over a month with these two ladies and we are finally made the last trip of our destination.

Cairns

For the first time on our trip, all three of us had to split up in Cairns. Amanda had a hostel while Sandra and I had a Couchsurfing host. The first two days spent exploring Cairns a bit. I must admit, I was not a huge fan. Although the city is extremely beautiful, it is nothing but a tourist trap. Every job is someone foreign working. It is literally nothing but a travel and party area. If you aren’t into drinking or clubbing every night, it may not be your spot.

Great Barrier Reef

After the second day in Cairns, we decided to make a trip up to Port Douglas to go see the Great Barrier Reef. we took a tour ship called Quicksilver. This tour was a bit more pricey and out of the way, but we heard from many people this one was the best. After 6 hours on the reef, I understand why everyone boasted about it so much. It was a beautiful boat, took you to three different spots, provided an amazing lunch buffet. I’ll Let the pictures below do the rest of the talking for the reef.
